Xerta - Tortosa

On the Xerta–Tortosa canoe route, you can observe the result of fluvial geodynamics over time and a highly representative example of natural river systems. It showcases the extraordinary richness of riverside vegetation, with fine stretches of poplar groves and excellent tamarisk stands.

These are geographically isolated biotopes, with a wide variety of environments and riparian vegetation, with permanent water currents that provide refuge for wildlife of notable interest, especially bird species that are very difficult to find elsewhere. They are also areas of great importance during breeding and migration seasons.

In Tortosa, the millenary capital of the Ebro Lands, even spending a whole day would not be enough to visit and admire all the monumental treasures hidden in this city: cathedral, palaces and mansions, paintings and altarpieces, chapels and convents, cloisters, churches, markets, gateways and gardens…
