Via Ferrada - P.N Ports

The Penyaflor via ferrata is a vertical route located at the gateway to the Ports Natural Park.

Situated between Els Reguers and Alfara de Carles (two towns very close to Tortosa), it is an intense via ferrata that has recently been expanded, making it one of the most attractive in the Terres de l’Ebre. It is a circular, enjoyable and fun route that has a bit of everything: steps, walkways, handrails, chains, and two Tibetan bridges.

With the extension, around 100 additional meters were equipped. There is a new 15-meter Tibetan bridge at a height of 60 meters, a 30-meter aerial traverse along the wall, and a 20-meter ladder section climbing up a gully, known as the “Escarrissons passage.” In total, there are now two Tibetan bridges and one footbridge. The difficulty and overall route remain unchanged, as this section could previously be done on foot and can still be avoided if desired. The route along ledges with a large drop below stands out for its spectacular nature.

The 20-minute approach makes this via ferrata a very appealing option to make the most of a day in the mountains. It is often a windy area, but the views after completing the ferrata highlight the contrast between the majestic Ports massif and the Ebro River valley.

The Penyaflor via ferrata has a total length of 1.43 km and is graded K3 on the Hüsler scale.
