Kayak - Miravet-Benifallet

Kayak - Miravet-Benifallet

Description

The Miravet–Benifallet canoe route is our crown jewel—the most spectacular kayaking route and our customers’ favorite! Many say it’s the most beautiful stretch of the Catalan Ebro. The Ebro River, our main protagonist, leaves the lands of Ribera d’Ebre and gently flows into the Baix Ebre, bringing with it its life-giving gift.

Here, it reveals the Barrufemes gorge, one of its most stunning landscapes: with “hair” of lush vegetation, “noses” and “ears” of ancient rocks, and “eyes” that seem to watch over us. Nestled between the final stretches of the Cardó mountains and the foothills of the Cavalls and Pàndols ranges, it forms a setting of unique natural beauty, enriched by remarkable historical and cultural heritage. This route is far from the road, so you’ll be surrounded by nature for almost the entire journey.

We arrive at Benifallet, which offers rich and varied gastronomy, fresh local produce from its orchards, the beautiful Meravelles Caves, or the chance to explore the Cardó mountain range. Benifallet is known as the village of the caves, the traditional riverboats, the kayaks, the good food, the fruit, and the famous local “pastisset” pastry.

The ferry crossing area is a very peaceful spot, with wonderful panoramic views of the river, the village of Miravet, and its castle. Before getting into the water, we provide a short theoretical and practical briefing and give tips for beginners—then it’s time to hit the river. In this area, with very calm waters and no current, you can easily and quickly learn the most basic paddling maneuvers.

Our instructors accompany the group at all times and ensure everything runs smoothly. They also provide guidance on proper kayaking technique and river navigation, while pointing out places of interest along the route, both from a historical and scenic perspective.

During the descent, there is usually a stop to rest, stretch your legs, drink, eat, take photos, swim, switch boats, or observe wildlife. We also pass through the interior of some beautiful river islands along the way, where you can fully appreciate the richness and beauty of the riverside forest.

If you have prior experience, the route can also be done without an instructor.

*We have single and double kayaks available. We also offer triple and quadruple kayaks (these are only recommended when there are two adults with children seated in the middle). In the comments section, please let us know how many and what type of kayaks you would like.
